The 21-year-old looked to be in superb form at Old Trafford, and was a constant threat to the opposition – even supplying the assist for Nacho Monreal’s opening goal. His powerful runs were causing all sorts of problems down their left side, and Louis van Gaal even rearranged his team to deal with the threat he was posing.
This made it all the more painful to see him replaced just after half time with an injury, Aaron Ramsey taking the pitch instead.
The England international is set to undergo a scan on Wednesday, when we will find out the full extent of his injury. It is already suspected that he will be out for some time however, and reports suggest he is at the very least going to miss England’s next competitive match at the end of the month.
This is likely to be a huge blow to the Ox, although many Arsenal fans will be glad that he won’t be heading off on international duty. Hopefully he doesn’t miss too many club games, as he finally looks to be breaking into the first team on a regular basis.
