Alexis Sanchez was in blistering form at the start of the season, and was a huge part of any and all success we enjoyed during the first half of the campaign. He has been experiencing something of a goal drought in recent weeks however, which many are blaming on the return of Mesut Özil.
Our record signing comes in for a lot of criticism from the media, and the latest barb being thrown his way is that he can’t play with Alexis Sanchez.
The Chilean was relatively freescoring after his £35m move from Barcelona this past summer, but since Özil’s return from injury the goals have dried up.
These stats courtesy of Sky Sports certainly suggest that the two are unable to combine effectively, although it is more than likely just a case of Sanchez suffering a dip in form.

We can’t expect the dynamic and tireless forward to show his best form constantly, as every player suffers a lull at some point or another.
It seems strange that the two wouldn’t work well together, as Özil’s pin point passes should benefit Sanchez hugely.
Hopefully the 26-year-old can find his shooting boots before the end of the season, and strike up a lethal partnership with his new German teammate to prove the critics wrong.
