Former Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas has seemingly made a petty dig at our expense, by highlighting how long it’s been since we have clinched the Premier League.
The 27-year-old is part of the Chelsea side that are on the verge of winning the title this season. Jose Mourinho’s men currently sit ten points clear of us with only six games to go.
The Independent report that Fabregas is itching to win his first league crown, and took a swipe at us in the process.
“We want to give satisfaction to the supporters. It’s been five years for them without winning the Premier League title; for me it’s been 27 years so I’d love to win it as soon as possible,” he said.
Our last triumph came in the 2003-04 when the Invincibles wrote their names into history. The Spaniard – who missed out on a medal as he failed to feature at all that season – started seeing first-team action during the next campaign.
With Fabregas’ Chelsea coming to the Emirates for our next game, he has also revealed that they need to win to feel the door is shut on our hopes of catching them.
“We are level on games now, we are 10 points in front and we don’t want to give them hope to put pressure on us,” he added.
In all honesty, Fabregas might well be right. This season, we are incredibly unlikely to win the title.
