Laurent Koscielny believes that a victory against Chelsea will probably mean more ahead of next season, as the Premier League title is just out of our grasp this time around.
If we can win at the Emirates – and extend our winning run to nine games in the process – then we will still sit seven point behind the Blues, with five games to go. Whatever happens in the game, Jose Mourinho knows that his men just need to find two victories to clinch the title. Four of their final six games are against sides in the bottom half of the table.
According to The Sun, the Frenchman has suggested that whilst a win may make the title picture slightly more obscure, as it stands the trophy is heading to Stamford Bridge.
“After we will see, for me the title is finished but we are professionals and we want to finish in a high position and we have the final of the FA Cup so we can finish the season well,” he said.
However, in the 29-year-old’s eyes, three points – as well as prolonging our excellent form – is vital if we are to carry momentum into next season, and subsequently launch a serious charge on the title.
“It’s always important to win against the best team in the Premier League and maybe we cannot win the title this season but for next season it’s always important as reminder that we could win against Chelsea, Man City and Liverpool,” he added.
