Arsenal’s David Ospina is statistically the best goalkeeper in the Premier League in terms of players that have played more than 10 games, Sky Sports News report.

Arsene Wenger was asked whether or not he’d interested in adding a goalkeeper to our squad this summer, but was quick to refer to the stats in order to justify how highly he rates Ospina.
“I believe in the goalkeepers I have,” explained Wenger to The Evening Standard. I believe that Szczesny is a very good goalkeeper and Ospina has come in and done a fantastic job. You look at the numbers in the Premier League and you look at who is top of all the goalkeepers and you will see it’s Ospina.”
Rumours persist regarding a potential move for Chelsea’s Petr Cech – with the Standard one of a number of sources suggesting a deal could happen this summer – but according to the numbers, Ospina is top of the pile in the division.

As ever with stats however, a few factors need to be taken into account and in Ospina’s case, there is a legitimate reason as to why he leads the way in the Premier League.
Ospina has the fewest number of starts out of the keepers on the list with his first coming in January following Wojciech Szczesny’s horrendous display at Southampton on New Years Day.
His introduction into the team also coincided with the return to fitness of our first choice back four and so he has regularly enjoyed the luxury of playing behind Per Mertesacker and Laurent Koscielny.
Having said that, Ospina’s calm displays should not go unnoticed and it’s a welcome alternative to the erratic nature of Szczesny’s performances earlier on this season.
