Raheem Sterling has edged closer to an Anfield exit, with his agent’s recent comments all but confirming his departure this summer.
We have been heavily linked with a move for Sterling throughout the season (via Sky Sports), but we have just received a massive boost in the hunt for his signature.
The pacy England international’s agent Aidy Ward has launched an extraordinary tirade directed at Liverpool and Jamie Carragher in particular – branding the former Merseyside man a “knob”, and claiming he doesn’t care about the club.
“I don’t care about the PR of the club and the club situation. I don’t care,” he is quoted as saying by the Evening Standard.
“He is definitely not signing. He’s not signing for £700, £800, £900 thousand a week. He is not signing.
“My job is to make sure I do the best with them (my clients). If people say I am bad at my job, or they are badly advised it does not matter.”
These quotes make it clear that Sterling is on his way out of Anfield, and that money is no object. The youngster has clearly had his head turned, and is already targeting bigger and better things with a more successful club.
A number of pundits – Including Jamie Carragher (via The Guardian) – have claimed that leaving Liverpool at this point in his career would be a mistake, but Ward clearly pays no attention to what these old legends think.
“Carragher is a knob. Everybody knows it,” he continued.
“Any of the criticism from current pundits or ex-Liverpool players – none of them things matter to me. It is not relevant.”
Sterling’s destination this summer definitely still has a massive question mark over it, but it seems certain he won’t be staying at Liverpool.
