Former Arsenal forward Jose Antonio Reyes is set to move away from his boyhood club Sevilla for the second time and could join Turkish giants Galatasaray (via Turkish Football).
Reyes joined us in January 2004 from Sevilla and after enjoying a lightning start to his career with us, the Spaniard failed to settle and eventually moved back to Spain with Atletico Madrid.
After returning to his native town in 2012, Reyes has a chance to add another trophy to his cabinet as Unai Emery’s side aim to defend the Europa League.
Arsenal transfer rumours
According to El Gol Digital, Galatasaray are set to increase Reyes’s wages to €3m a year as his contract is set to expire at the end of the season.
The Turkish giants are heavily reliant on Wesley Sneijder and are notoriously known for signing talented players during the twilight of their careers.
Reyes will forever be a case of ‘what could have been’ at Arsenal given his sensational technical talents with the Spaniard capturing the imagination of the fans during his first few months at the club.
The 31-year-old clearly lacked the mental toughness to succeed at the top-level which, ultimately, was a huge shame.
