Hull have been in resurgent form recently, but it didn’t take long for us to break them down. Alexis Sanchez was the goalscorer, but it was a catalogue of errors from the home side that led to the goal.
It was two former Tottenham players that conspired to create the chance for Sanchez, who tucked away a free kick from the edge of the box.
Tom Huddlestone wanted far too much time on the ball, and saw it pinched off his toes by Mesut Özil as he delayed. The German playmaker dropped it off to Sanchez, who was then brought down by Jake Livermore.
The ex-Spurs midfielder was booked for his troubles, but that wasn’t the worst of it for Hull.
Sanchez stepped up to take the free kick, whipping it goalwards. It took a wicked deflection off the wall, with Steve Harper left flat footed by the ball’s change in flight.

There was more than a little luck about the goal, but we had dominated right from kick off, and it was no more than we deserved.
