Since the incredible Invincible season of 2004, this has been one of our best campaigns, and whilst the title is beyond us this year, our recent form should give us confidence to go after the Premier League crown next time.
The Daily Mirror report that Swansea City boss Garry Monk believes that our current squad is the strongest since that unbelievable season 11 years ago.
But which members of the current crop have an argument to suggest that they were good enough to be part of the Invincibles? Here are five that could have potentially improved the side, as difficult as that is to believe:
- [Player Ratings] Arsenal 1-0 Newcastle – Ozil Wonder Goal Saves Boring, Boring Arsenal
- [Confirmed Lineups] Arsenal v Newcastle United – Wilshere & Lacazette Start In 4-2-3-1
- Lacazette, Ozil & Wilshere All Start In 4-2-3-1 – Arsenal v Newcastle United [Predicted Lineups]
The sheer speed of the 20-year-old has already weakened the threat from some of the Premier League’s finest left wingers during his brief career in our first-team. If he continues to be given the opportunity once Arsene Wenger has all options available to him, then the Spaniard has a frightening arc of potential. That is the reason that he could compete with the reliable Lauren, the right-back for most of the Invincible campaign.
