Arsene Wenger named the same lineup yet again against Swansea, and it didn’t pay dividends. We will be looking to bounce back against Manchester United this weekend, but are sure to be facing tougher competition.
We have already beaten Louis van Gaal’s side once at Old Trafford this season, but with a couple of the starting XI from that game unavailable this time around, Wenger will have some decisions to make.
Here is the predicted lineup for our clash with Manchester United at Old Trafford:
GK) David Ospina
- Report: Raul Sanllehi Identifies 24-Year-Old As The Perfect Replacement For Hector Bellerin
- Report: Arsenal Ready To Offer €100 Million For Thomas Lemar In January
- Report: Arsenal Offer Ozil Final £275,000/Week Contract
The Colombian shot-stopper had a nightmare for the goal we conceded against Swansea, but he has been largely reliable since taking over. He’s unlikely to be dropped based on one mistake, so Wojciech Szczesny might have to wait a little longer for his chance.
RB) Hector Bellerin
With Mathieu Debuchy still a doubt through injury (via Arsenal.com), Bellerin should continue at right-back. He has arguably usurped the Frenchman as our first choice anyway, so it’s hard to see Calum Chambers starting ahead of him.
LB) Nacho Monreal
The Spaniard has been superb this season, and has forced his way ahead of Kieran Gibbs in the pecking order.
RCB) Per Mertesacker
None of our defenders covered themselves in glory during our clash with Swansea, with everyone at least partly at fault for the goal. Our stand-in-captain should still keep his place against United however, as Gabriel Paulista doesn’t quite seem ready to replace him.
LCB) Laurent Koscielny
Easily our best defender, the Frenchman has to be a nailed on starter. He has been excellent this season, and we look a much better team with him in the side.
