We head to Hull on Monday evening, and given the results over the weekend, we could really cement our place in second spot with three of our last four games at home.
Swansea City, West Bromwich Albion, and Sunderland are set to visit the Emirates Stadium this month, with a trip to Old Trafford our only other away fixture.
It would therefore seem sensible for Arsene Wenger to keep the same XI that has been on a great run, but judging by our last two performances, changes may be afoot.
Despite going through to the FA Cup final, our performance at Wembley was hardly convincing – further illustrated by how comfortable Chelsea were at the Emirates.
We only registered one shot on target and failed to score a goal at home for the first time this season against the champions-elect. The balance of the team seems right, but a few tweaks could see us return to our most devastating ways when going forward.
Here are four players who we should start at the KC Stadium.
Per Mertesacker has been waning of late, and if Wenger isn’t going to address the centre back area during the summer, then Gabriel should be ushered into the starting XI.
We have previously seen Wenger adopt a high pressing system with the pace we now have in our forward line, but such systems require a contribution from the whole team. The role of the centre-backs is crucial, and with Mertesacker asked to hold a high line in order to recover the ball quickly, his ability restricts that.
Gabriel is quick and aggressive, a combination which could blend nicely alongside Laurent Koscielny.
