Arsenal fans were in utter disbelief on Twitter after the FA decided to charge Jack Wilshere for his anti-Spurs chants at the FA Cup parade on Sunday.

Just as he had last season, Wilshere led the crowd in a song mocking our rivals by asking the thousands of fans what they thought of Tottenham.
The fact that this has led The FA to take action against the 23-year-old is beyond belief.

When you consider that Arsene Wenger has had to endure disgusting and slanderous chants from that lot for the past 19 years with no sign of any ramifications, Wilshere’s comments seem light-hearted at best. And what has Wilshere actually done to deserve a charge, or even the warning in the first place? Telling the Arsenal fans what they already know?

The FA’s charge will probably be deemed as consistent, but the fact that they genuinely have grounds to charge is rather worrying. Players such as Wilshere are a rare breed, and after taking horrific abuse for 180 minutes each season, if a victory parade for a major trophy isn’t an appropriate time to have a little dig back, then where is our sport going?
