Arsenal have reportedly been told to stump up £40m if we want to prise away FC Porto forward Yacine Brahimi, who has exploded onto the scene over the past 12 months, talkSPORT reports.
Brahimi is an Algerian forward who is also attracting interest from the likes of AC Milan and Bayern Munich following a productive season, according to reports.
He scored five goals in this season’s Champions League, and netted a wonderfully worked goal at last summer’s World Cup against South Korea.
Arsenal transfer rumours
Arsene Wenger recently revealed his admiration for the 25-year-old, and predicted that he was destined for greatness.
“Yes, [he has] a great future,” Wenger was quoted as saying in March (via Le 10 Sport).
At the price quoted above, it would be an enormous shock to see Brahimi arrive in north London. Despite our finances looking more positive over the past few years, Wenger isn’t prepared to spend vast sums of money on players who he doesn’t feel are worth it.
Our two most expensive signings were players with established careers and superstar credentials, and unless another Mesut Özil or Alexis Sanchez becomes available, we may have to wait for another marquee signing.
