Arturo Vidal has been heavily linked with a move to the Emirates ahead of the 2015/16 season (via the Metro), but his recent discipline issues are causing problems. Alexis Sanchez has some advice for his Chilean teammate though, and spoke ahead of his side’s Copa America clash with Bolivia this weekend.
Vidal was recently in a car crash, and has been charged for drink driving (via Goal). He is back in the Chile squad ahead of their next match though, and our sensational summer signing has some words of wisdom for him.
Alexis claims Vidal needs to leave everything on the field against Bolivia this weekend, and give his all in order to bounce back. He insists that the team are behind him, and backed the group to move on from the controversy.
“I told him: ‘Arturo, you better bust your ass!'” Alexis said, as quoted by Goal.
“It’s very hard what happened with him but as a group the least we can do is put up with it as a team.
“There has been indiscipline, we were wrong, you are right about that. But we are a family and we are there to support him.”
He went on to discuss recent rumours about a rift in the squad, with claims suggesting the players were unhappy with Vidal (via Goal). The former Barcelona star rubbished the rumours, insisting that the side were fully united.
“I hate it when people say things which are not true,” he said.
“All the players were with him. I hope that the people will be with him on Friday, like all his colleagues have been.
“The important thing is that Arturo, his wife and everyone else are well. The case of Arturo should now close and we can concentrate on the Copa America.”
It would be nice for Alexis Sanchez to enjoy a morale boosting Copa America, although a rest would also do him some good. Hopefully he comes back fit and firing on all cylinders next season, as he is sure to prove vital to any title push we hope to make.
