This is hopefully going to be a summer of arrivals rather than departures, but so far we have seen nothing but exits from the Emirates. Two players left the club recently, with Arsenal confirming the moves of Ryo Miyaichi and Semi Ajayi on the official website.
Both players have been deemed surplus to requirements, with Miyaichi joining German 2. Bundesliga side FC St. Pauli and Ajayi making a permanent switch to Cardiff – who he spent part of last season on loan with.
The speedy Japanese star looked destined for big things when we signed him back in 2011, as his pace and trickery were truly breathtaking. Injuries and a lack of progression halted his development into the first team however, and he unfortunately hasn’t looked like making the grade at Arsenal over the last few seasons.
Ajayi looked equally promising, and was solid for our Under-21 side. At 21-years-old he didn’t look close to breaking into the first team however, and is much more likely to see action in Wales with Cardiff.
It’s a shame neither player worked out at Arsenal, but hopefully they can still enjoy excellent careers with their new clubs.
