In one of the more bizarre transfer stories so far, we are apparently planning a move for Galatasaray midfielder Felipe Melo, according to talkSPORT.
We have been linked with the Brazilian in the past (via The Guardian), although he was a completely different player all the way back in 2010. He was arguably the tough tackling natural replacement for Gilberto Silva in his youth, but at 31-years-old he is not the same man anymore.
It was clear to see how far he’s fallen when we faced the Turkish giants in the Champions League this season, with Danny Welbeck – among others – running absolute rings around him. The former Juventus star barely has the pace to keep up with the Turkish game anymore, never mind the Premier League.
Despite all this, we are still credited with an interest in him once again, with talkSPORT claiming Arsene Wenger is looking for some short term cover for Francis Coquelin.
Inter Milan are also in the hunt for his signature, and are apparently nearing completion of a £4m move for the defensive midfielder (via talkSPORT). Hopefully they snap him up quickly, so that these tenuous links connecting us to the player can be forgotten.
