The Spanish giants look set to continue their policy of signing a ‘Galáctico’ every summer with Florentino Perez aiming to rectify what has been a disappointing season.
Real Madrid ended the campaign without any silverware and the last time they experienced a similar fate, Gareth Bale arrived for a world record fee (via BBC Sport).
Reports previously suggested that Benzema remains Wenger’s top target this summer (via the Mirror), but a move for the Frenchman will inevitably depend on what Rafa Benitez plans for his squad.

We can at least take encouragement from Real Madrid’s recent reputation of selling top class players for huge fees, as they have done for the past three years.
The likes of Mesut Ozil, Gonzalo Higuain and Angel Di Maria have all left the Bernabeu stadium in order to finance moves for incoming stars and Benzema could be next.
Hopefully, the boss has identified the centre-forward position as an area of weakness and should we add a predatory forward to our ranks, that would represent a huge step towards a sustained title challenge.
