Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly keen on bringing Francis Coquelin back to France, with Laurent Blanc a big fan of the young midfielder, according to the Daily Star.
The 24-year-old has been phenomenal this season, and since being recalled from his loan spell at Charlton Athletic he as proven himself a vital part of our setup.
It would be sheer madness for Arsene Wenger to even consider selling the tough tackling midfielder, and there would surely be ructions from fans if he did so.
The Star claim that Coquelin would be open to a move though, mainly due to a desire for first team football. The report claims he is likely to be displaced by our injury plagued captain Mikel Arteta next season, and will therefore be keen to move on.
It’s nigh on impossible to see this happening, and there are a handful of reasons why. Coquelin has been with us for years, and has only recently signed a contract extension (via Arsenal.com). The Star’s theory that he will be replaced by Arteta also seems preposterous, as while the Spaniard is still a quality midfielder, Coquelin has proved just how important it is to have a dedicated defensive midfielder in the side.

PSG have a number of quality defensive midfielders on their books already, and Coquelin’s place in the side would be anything but guaranteed. That’s not to say he won’t face competition at the Emirates – especially if we bring in any new faces – but there’s no reason to think he has a better chance of regular action in Paris.
