Real Madrid manager Rafa Benitez is still searching for his first summer signing, and reports suggest that he’s eyeing our defender Laurent Koscielny, France Football reports.
The report is a rehashed one, informing many that Real Madrid are still keen on the Frenchman with a figure of €30million subsequently mooted.
While we may have faced reports such as these with immense trepidation in the past, we’re no longer in a financial position where our best players must depart.
Koscielny is currently on a long-term contract having signed his latest deal in May 2014 (via Arsenal.com), which makes the price quoted in the report seem absurd.

In a market where David Luiz is worth £50m (via the Express), Real Madrid would certainly have to go beyond that figure to even tempt Arsene Wenger to engage in possible discussions.
The boss could also refuse to negotiate at any price and keep one of the best defenders around, whereby given the length of Koscielny’s contract, he would be forced to stay.
The 29-year-old also seems rather settled at the club and doesn’t appear to be the type of character to cause a fuss if he weren’t granted a move to the Spanish capital.
In short, Koscielny’s potential departure seems highly unlikely and it will be a sight to behold when our club tells Real Madrid where to go with their derisory approach.
