Petr Cech’s move to Arsenal looks set to be announced in the coming days (via Sky Sports), and the Chelsea shot-stopper will become our most expensive goalkeeper ever.
We have a newfound financial clout at the moment, and Arsene Wenger has been flexing his muscles in the transfer market.
Here is an Arsenal XI of our most expensive signings in each position:
GK) Petr Cech – £10.9m

The deal isn’t done yet, but it seems only a matter of time. The £10.9m fee being touted seems a little steep for a 33-year-old in the last year of his contract, but you can’t deny the quality he’ll bring to our side.
RB) Calum Chambers – £16m
Mathieu Debuchy almost made this list, as Calum Chambers arguably has a future in a more central role rather than at right-back. For accuracy’s sake the former Southampton man is included on the right though, as that is where he has played most of his football since his switch last summer.
LB) Nacho Monreal – £10m
The fee we reportedly paid for the Spaniard seemed a little high initially, but he showed this past season that he is worth every penny. He has come on leaps and bounds since his arrival from Malaga, and has usurped Kieran Gibbs as our first-choice left-back.
CB) Laurent Koscielny – £10m
The Frenchman is unquestionably our best defender, and is reportedly being targeted by Real Madrid for a big money move (via The Telegraph).
Considering his status as a relative unknown when we signed him the transfer fee was arguably far too big, but Arsene Wenger obviously saw something in him, and his compatriot is repaying the faith.
CB) Gabriel – £11.2m

We brought the Brazilian to the Emirates this past January from Villarreal, and in the few brief glimpses we’ve had of him he has looked like an excellent investment.
He will hopefully be one half of our future central defensive pairing, and will be looking to play a larger part this coming season.
