Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has urged the club to add more consistency in order for us to “annoy” rivals Chelsea in the Premier League title race next season, the Daily Express reports.
Henry was speaking at the launch for next season’s home kit – where he was a host – and believes that we could be set for a sustained title charge if we maintain the form we showed in the second part of the season throughout next season’s campaign.
Whether or not we’d actually made any progress last term was a prominent discussion among fans, but our form in 2015 cannot be overlooked. We combined defensive security with some sensational football while our trepidation surrounding the big games was overcome.
“I think we have to be consistent,” Henry was quoted as saying in the Express.
“Not just ending the season well but also have that consistency for the whole season.
“If we can, and I say ‘we can’ because I’m also a supporter, annoy Chelsea and the others next year. We’ll see what’s going to happen.
“But the fact that we won the Cup twice in a row, I hope we can advance on this basis, be consistent. That has to be key next year.”
Henry constantly referring to Arsenal as “we” represents a telling difference to when he mentions us on Sky and reiterates that he’s a fan before anything.
As a serial winner, Henry’s comments must be taken seriously and the key to any title-winning side is their ability to keep picking up points.
With the Premier League fixtures announced on Wednesday, we’ll hopefully be given some favourable fixtures to allow us to the start the season well in the first few weeks.
