Arsenal legend Sol Campbell is currently on a promotional run as he aims to boosts his chances of becoming mayor of London, but an appearance on LBC radio has resulted in some less than favourable feedback.
Campbell revealed his desire to stand for election as London mayor earlier on this month, with the former England international pursuing a career in politics following his retirement from football in 2011 (via BBC Sport).
The 40-year-old recently revealed that despite having the desire to stand as a Conservative candidate, he hasn’t forgotten his roots and can’t be viewed as an out of touch politician.
“I’m from the street, I haven’t forgotten,” he was quoted as saying (via the Daily Mail).

However, his latest appearance on a media platform has led to even further backlash from the public after appearing confused when questioned about public transport.
As the clip shows, Campbell was asked how frequently he uses the tube, and his answer certainly doesn’t correspond with an individual trying to shackle off an image of a well-off ex-footballer using politics as an avenue to stay relevant.
Campbell is highly regarded as one of our best ever defenders and it would be a shame for his football career to be overshadowed by his latest endeavours.
