Yaya Sanogo looks likely to complete a loan move to Eredivisie giants Ajax, with the French forward set for a medical, as reported by Dutch publication De Telegraaf.
The 22-year-old has struggled since making the switch to North London, and is arguably seen as surplus to requirements. It’s unclear whether he has a long-term future at the club, but it certainly seems that he will be spending this season away from the Emirates.
Former teammate and compatriot Sebastian Haller heaped praise on the youngster, and backed him to shine in the Netherlands.
“Yaya is a complete striker,” Haller said, as quoted by De Telegraaf.
“He can dribble, has a good shot and can score goals.
“That’s why I think he fits in well with Ajax and in the league.

Arsene Wenger is known for taking risks in the transfer market with unproven youth, and Sanogo is another example of that. It looks like a gamble that is unlikely to pay off, but the fact that he joined the club on a free transfer back in 2013 means it is unlikely to be a costly one.
It would be fantastic to see the young forward thrive at Ajax and blossom into a truly great striker, but if he continues to fall short of the grade required to make it at Arsenal then we need to cut him loose.
