Arsenal have announced that Reading teenager Jordi Osei-Tutu will join our academy squad next season as Andries Jonkers continues to scour Europe for the best talent, the club confirmed on our official website.
Along with the likes of Vlad Dragomir and Yassine Fortune who joined from ACS Poli Timisoara and RC Lens, Osei-Tutu is another player poached from a club.
According to the Metro, the young full-back is highly regarded and can also operate in central midfield and on the wing.
Since the arrival of Jonker – Louis van Gaal’s former assistant at Bayern Munich – as our academy director, we have seen a number of promising players drafted into Hale End.
Arsenal transfer rumours
As confirmed by the club, 11 first year scholars have joined up with the development squad including the aforementioned trio.
Having a strong Academy has always been one of the Arsene Wenger’s ambitions and the Frenchman promised that he will leave behind a strong core of young players for his successor to benefit from
“A club that has good players, good youth [coming up] behind and a strong financial position to go further up and develop even more. I will do that, you can believe me,” Wenger professed when asked in what state he wants to leave the club in (via BBC Sport).
Despite the criticism he has, we are very lucky to have a manager at the helm constantly thinking about the future of our club, a future he may necessarily not be apart of.
