Danny Welbeck missed a large chunk of last season, with a nasty knee injury ruling the Man United man out of the tail end of the campaign. He now looks set to spend longer on the sidelines than expected unfortunately, with the 24-year-old suffering a set-back in his recovery, as reported by the Daily Star.
The injury means the England international will miss our pre-season tour of Asia (via the Daily Star), as he hasn’t been included in the squad set to fly out.
The report suggests that the issue is bruising of the bone, and a return date is yet to be set. Hopefully he’ll be back for the start of the season, and maybe even for the Emirates Cup in a few weeks time.
He enjoyed a solid debut season at the club following his switch from Old Trafford, but didn’t exactly set the Emirates alight. He may well enjoy a more successful second campaign at the club, but he will first need to overcome his injury issues.
