Arsenal winger Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has backed Petr Cech to become a huge figure in the dressing room after the 33-year-old began pre-season training with us this week, as reported on Arsene Player.
Cech has been included in the squad travelling to Singapore for the Barclays Asia Trophy and could be set for his first appearance as an Arsenal player on Wednesday.
Oxlade-Chamberlain was quick to point out that with the lack of Premier League-winning experience we have in the squad, Cech can use his knowledge to guide the team throughout the season.
Arsenal transfer rumours
“He’s been one of the best goalkeepers in the world since I’ve been watching football,” Oxlade-Chamberlain told our media channel.
“In terms of our approach at any point in the season, he knows what it takes to win the league.

“I’m sure he’s going to be a voice who can talk to us and let us know where we need to go and what we need to do to achieve that.”
With Per Mertesacker and Laurent Koscielny positioned in front of him, we have the experience at the base of our defence to resist intense pressure.
We were defensively suspect at the beginning of last season, which effectively ruled us out of the title race as Chelsea stormed into an impregnable lead.
Cech’s presence is therefore invaluable, and should ease the rest of our squad and reassure them that they can rely on the man between the sticks.
