The boss was answering questions on Emirates Airline’s official Twitter account which he conducts annually when the squad return for pre-season training.
Wenger stated that he and Alexis exchanged a few messages, something every fan wants to hear with the boss and our star man sharing a strong relationship.
Arsenal transfer news
Wenger is universally known for his man-management skills, with a number of players over the years alluding to their special relationship with the Frenchman.
Alexis scored the winning penalty in Chile’s penalty shootout victory over Argentina with a cheeky effort, chipping the ball down the centre of the goal with Sergio Romero sent the wrong way.
A well-deserved rest remains in store for the Chilean, which is imperative for him if we’re to see Alexis repeat the levels he showed in his debut campaign.
