Manchester United’s utility man Daley Blind has revealed that he spent a day at London Colney at the age of 16, before rejecting an offer from us to remain at Ajax, the Mirror reports.
Blind joined the Red Devils last summer, but claims that we tabled a financially handsome offer which he later refused, despite stating that it would have been a dream to represent us.
At the age of 16, it would’ve been interesting to see which position Arsene Wenger saw Blind blossoming in, given that he’s currently used at centre-back, left-back, and in a defensive midfield role by Louis van Gaal.

“I had the chance to move to London at a young age. I was in the Ajax academy and one day I came home from school.
“My mum and dad said to me; ‘Arsenal have called today. They want you’.”
“The money was nowhere near what I could earn at Arsenal. My dad left it up to me and I decided to stay at Ajax.”
The number of players Wenger has supposedly missed out on seems to multiply every week and it would be interesting to know how many of these stories are actually factual.
Blind is a decent player, but we have rarely explored Holland for talent with Robin van Persie Wenger’s only successful purchase from the Netherlands.
Considering the calibre of player to have come out in recent years who we’ve apparently missed out on signing, Blind would probably rank among the lowest on that list.
