Szczesny completed his loan move to AS Roma this week, with the arrival of Petr Cech placing the Polish international under the spotlight.
The 25-year-old lost his previously secure position in January after a calamitous day at Southampton, with David Ospina taking the reins as our first choice goalkeeper.
Despite having a considerable number of years remaining on his deal, Szczesny wants to win trophies at Roma.

“I’ve come here to win trophies with AS Roma and I believe that the team is strong enough to do so.
“I think there’s great potential. I’m here to win games and trophies for this club.”
At the age of 33, Cech still has a number of years left in him at the top level, which could spell danger for Szczesny in terms of his future with us.
Also, Wenger’s recent loan departures – with the exception of Francis Coquelin – haven’t returned to stake a claim in the team, and have either gone on another loan spell or left the club altogether.
It would be a shame if Szczesny cannot sustain a career with us considering how much energy the club has put into developing him, but there is no room for sentiment in top-level sport.
