We have been linked with a host of new striking options this summer, Gonzalo Higuain being one of them (via talkSPORT). And now looks like it could be an excellent time to move for the Argentine, as his agent claims they have turned down a new contract with Napoli.
The 27-year-old has been superb since making the switch from Real Madrid, and is far too good a player to be absent from the Champions League next season. His agent Nicolas Higuain clearly agrees, revealing that contract talks have not progressed.
“We had a meeting with the president [Aurelio De Laurentiis] in Venice 10 days ago,” he said (via The Guardian).
“We talked about everything. He offered a one-year contract extension, however, in my opinion – and in our opinion – we’ll continue with the original contract, expiring in 2018.
“I don’t think we’ll accept the president’s offer, because the contract isn’t that different from the one we signed before, so for us it’s not a real offer.”
He has a record of better than a goal a game with the Serie A side, and has scored goals wherever he’s gone. If there’s one thing you are guaranteed with Higuain it’s that he will find the back of the net, and that is a skill that translates in any league.

The prolific forward may not be our top target, as there are arguably far better options out there. He would be an excellent acquisition however, and would fit the bill of a marquee signing that so many fans seem to be demanding.
