The teams have been announced for our Premier League opening clash against West Ham, and there’s one rather surprising omission. Hector Bellerin has not only been dropped from the starting XI, but he hasn’t been named in the match day squad at all.
He has been our starting right-back for quite some time now, and hasn’t put a foot wrong since joining the team on a regular basis. It seems strange that the Spaniard would simply have been dropped from the squad completely, so you have to assume there’s been an injury.

Arsene Wenger then confirmed what we were all thinking, revealing in a pre-match interview that the 20-year-old had a slight muscular problem. As confirmed by Daily Mail reporter Matt Barlow.

It’s a big blow, as the Spaniard has arguably proved himself our first-team right-back. Thankfully we have an excellent option in Mathieu Debuchy, with the Frenchman getting the nod to start the first game of the campaign.
We should still have more than enough about us to see off West Ham, and hopefully Bellerin returns quickly.
