Wilshere suffered a hairline fracture to his fibula a day before our Community Shield clash against Chelsea and after he avoided the need for surgery, the 23-year-old was sent abroad by Arsene Wenger in order to help his recovery, according to the report.
Wenger initially indicated that Wilshere would spend two weeks resting in a protective boot and that he may be able to train shortly thereafter (via The Guardian).
Arsenal transfer news
Wilshere’s initial injury wasn’t seen as a significant blow given that his place in our first XI wasn’t necessarily secured, but that may have changed after our result against West Ham United.
Our football was pedestrian-like against the Hammers, and Wilshere’s ability to quicken the pace with the ball at his feet was certainly a quality we missed.
