Crystal Palace’s Joel Ward was always going to be in for a tough 90 minutes when coming up against a refreshed Alexis Sanchez, and the defender has since hailed our star man as one of the world’s best, The Evening Standard reports.
Alexis, after being given a cameo role against West Ham United, was unleashed by Arsene Wenger from the start, and the Chilean didn’t disappoint.
His technical game wasn’t to the level we’ve come to expect from Alexis, but the sheer desire he shows is sometimes enough to drag him over the line.
Constantly hounding Ward down, Alexis eventually got the better of him in the air after powering a header towards goal for the winner.

“We have to learn from that and learn quickly, starting against Aston Villa next week, and we want to put it right,” Ward was quoted as saying in the publication.
“Alexis Sanchez is a top player, one of the best in the world, but it was disappointing from us.”
Given that Alexis has yet to reach full match fitness, it is rather scary as to the levels he could approach this season after what was an explosive debut campaign.
Having also led Chile to their first ever major trophy at this summer’s Copa America, Alexis is certainly capable of taking his game to another level.
