The opening game of the season is fast approaching, and it won’t be long until West Ham head to the Emirates to hand us our first three points. But we are without a handful of first team stars for the Hammers’ visit, with injuries playing a part as usual, as reported by the Daily Star.
Despite returning from lengthy injuries, Danny Welbeck and Tomas Rosicky are unlikely to be anywhere near fit enough for the clash. Both men have missed the entirety of our pre-season campaign, and it’s hard to see them getting a place in the match day squad.
A far bigger blow is the loss of Jack Wilshere, with the England international suffering yet another ankle injury (via the Daily Star). He is facing a number of weeks sidelined with a hairline fracture, and is set for yet more disappointment following an excellent few months.
Alexis Sanchez is the only other player likely to miss out, with the Chilean only recently returning from an extended holiday. Arsene Wenger gave the former Barcelona man a break due to his successful involvement in the Copa America, with Alexis barely given time to catch his breath since before the World Cup in Brazil last summer.
Other than that it seems we are fully fit and raring to go, and can hopefully carry our pre-season form into the 2015/16 campaign.
