Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has lavished praise on Mesut Ozil after the playmaker produced a wonderful performance in our victory against Crystal Palace, with the boss particularly delighted with the German’s passing (via Arsenal Player).
In our first Premier League victory of the new season, Ozil demonstrated his full array of passing and assisted our opening goal with a clever pass for Olivier Giroud.
Ozil took part in his first full pre-season since joining us in 2013 and entered this campaign in the best shape he’s been in over the past few years.
Wenger has previously challenged Ozil to prove his worth this season and he seems to have taken heed of the challenge.

“He (Ozil) had a very good performance,” Wenger said after the game.
“He was important getting out from the back, getting out of tight areas. It is a pleasure to watch the quality of his passing and the intelligence of his passing.”
If ever there was an adjective to describe Ozil’s performance, then Wenger summed it up best – it was a ‘pleasure’. Goals are certainly the component missing from the 26-year-old’s game, but that is often through no fault of his own.
Ozil makes a number of runs beyond the opposition but lacks another player capable of giving him the final ball – like he’s so used to doing.
Hopefully, this will become Ozil’s campaign.
