Yaya Sanogo is currently on loan with Dutch giants Ajax, and appeared to get off to a fantastic start with a hat-trick in pre-season. He has received some extremely harsh criticism from Ajax’s assistant youth coach Ronald de Boer however, who claims the Frenchman has “no qualities” whatsoever, as reported by Goal.
The 22-year-old obviously struggled during his time at Arsenal, and despite very few players ahead of him in the pecking order he was still unable to secure regular first team football. But to say he has no qualities at all seems a little harsh, as the youngster has shown at times that he has the raw talent required to succeed.
De Boer – who won the Champions League with Ajax during his playing days – isn’t likely to be the one utilising Sanogo, as he will hopefully be playing with the first team under Ronald’s twin brother Frank and Arsenal legend Dennis Bergkamp. The on-loan Gunner still won’t be pleased to hear this scathing assessment of his abilities though.
“I heard Frank say last week that this is one of the best squads with whom he has ever worked,” De Boer said.
“However, when I see Sanogo, I still have my doubts. I have still found no qualities with which you can do something.”
Sanogo may never make the grade at Arsenal, especially as our newfound financial firepower allows us to operate with more freedom in the transfer market – regardless of whether we have actually done so.
Arsenal transfer news
This loan spell in the Eredivisie could go a long way towards deciding Sanogo’s future, so he will be keen to impress both the de Boers and Arsene Wenger.
