Olivier Giroud opened the scoring against Crystal Palace this weekend with a fantastic goal, but Ian Wright claims the French forward annoys him, as heard on BBC 5 Live 606.
The Arsenal legend has lashed out at Giroud regarding his positioning, and has implored him to remain central more.
Wright criticised the 28-year-old for floating out wide too often, and then taking forever to return to his central position.
“I’d like him to stay in the centre of the centre halves, and be that focal point,” Wright said.
“Sometimes I look at him and he goes down the right hand side, and takes so long to get back. Watching him sometimes that annoys me.”
This seems a little harsh, as Giroud is probably often operating under instructions given to him by Arsene Wenger. We often play without natural wingers, so the rest of the team take turns creating width – from the striker all the way back to the full-backs.

Giroud’s runs often create space for his teammates, and when he needs to be a focal point he is usually there.
Arsenal transfer news
We can criticise the forward for a lot of things, but whether his positioning is one of them is up for debate. Hopefully his goal gives him the confidence needed to kick on and be a success this season.
