Hull City boss Steve Bruce has heaped praise on Chuba Akpom after the forward made an explosive start to his loan spell at the KC Stadium, netting twice in three appearances, the Hull Daily Mail reports.
In his latest game, Akpom smacked the post with a neat effort which would’ve given him a near-perfect start to the season, but the 19-year-old is still impressing his manager.
Akpom was superb for us during pre-season and it seemed as though he’d done enough to convince Arsene Wenger that he was ready to compete for a place with us, but the boss decided otherwise.
For Bruce however, Akpom’s time will come.

“Chuba has a chance, doesn’t he? Wow,” Bruce told the club’s local newspaper.
“He has a lot to do and a lot to learn. But, in terms of raw talent, you don’t have to watch him long to realise the natural ability that he has. Only a few are blessed with that.
“He has to learn and this league will teach him that. Had he scored, that would have been three in three for him. It’s been a wonderful start.”
Akpom has previously experienced various loan spells, but it seems as though he’s found his match at Hull City, and having matured over the last few years he definitely seems ready to make the step-up.
If we don’t strengthen the centre-forward position this summer, then Akpom could realistically stake a first-team claim once he returns from his loan spell at the end of the campaign.
