Mathieu Flamini was the hero this past Wednesday night, with the French midfielder scoring an unlikely brace to give us a 2-1 win over North London rivals Tottenham. His former Arsenal teammate Cesc Fabregas sent him a message following his Man of the Match display, suggesting he always saw an eye for goal in the tough tackling Gunner.
Fabregas has lost his place in the majority of Arsenal fans’ hearts since his controversial switch to Chelsea, but he still retains a connection with a number of current and ex-Arsenal stars.
Flamini is clearly one of them, and was the recipient of an Instagram message from the former Barcelona star.
The message read: “Follow my man @mathieuflamini ! What an amazing performance last night brother. I always knew you had an eye for goal.”

The two spent a number of years together during Flamini’s first spell at the club, and this post will certainly bring back some memories.
Flamini’s second goal against Spurs in particular was superb, and earned him a huge amount of praise.

Few would have expected the veteran to be the hero of the North London derby, but he has now entered himself into Arsenal folklore with his superb display.
