Ainsley Maitland-Niles scored the pick of the goals as ten man England U19s battled past Germany, with the young Lions running out 3-2 winners against their arch rivals.
Liverpool’s Sheyi Ojo scored the opener to put England into the lead, but Jonjoe Kenny was sent off early in the second half – with Germany leveling from the spot as a result.
That didn’t slow the the Three Lions down however, and Chelsea’s Dominic Solanke put them back in the lead. Maitland-Niles then extended the gap shortly after, with his sublime long ranged effort giving the goalkeeper no chance.
He made himself some room at the edge of the box, resisting a challenge to allow space for the shot. The 18-year-old pulled the trigger and fired a venomous shot into the top right corner, sealing the win for England.

Arsenal transfer news
Maitland-Niles is a hugely promising talent, and was handed a couple of first-team chances last season. He’s still young, and it could be a while before he becomes a regular in the senior team – if he makes it that far at all. But he’s shown real quality for both club and country, and will hopefully prove an academy success story.
