Adrien Rabiot has reportedly been a long term target of ours, and Arsene Wenger has finally been given the green light to sign the young Frenchman ahead of the January transfer window, according to the Daily Star (via L’Equipe).
The report suggests Rabiot is unhappy at Paris Saint-Germain, and has been for quite some time. The promising young midfielder has struggled for first team football with the Ligue 1 giants, and is consequently looking for a move away. He has made just two senior appearances so far this season, and is running out of patience.
A potential PSG exit has been on the cards for months, and we have looked close to signing the 20-year-old in the past (via the Daily Star). A deal never materialised, but the time might now be right.
Rabiot probably wouldn’t be first choice at Arsenal, and would be battling with the likes of Francis Coquelin, Aaron Ramsey, and Santi Cazorla for a spot in midfield. He doesn’t look to have committed himself to one position yet, and is capable of playing as a defensive midfielder, a deep lying playmaker, or more of a box-to-box midfielder.
We are currently badly lacking a back up option for Coquelin, and his compatriot Rabiot could be the perfect player to fill that void.

With Rabiot so regularly linked with a move to Arsenal, we shouldn’t take these rumours too seriously until the January window draws closer; it’s certainly one we should keep an eye on though.
