The teams have been confirmed for our tricky fixture against Manchester United this Sunday afternoon, and unsurprisingly it’s the team we all expected to see who will start the game.
Arsene Wenger has had a couple of decisions forced on him through injury, with Laurent Koscielny, Mikel Arteta, and Mathieu Flamini all absent (via Arsenal.com). We’ve fielded what is arguably close to our strongest XI however, with the injured French centre-back the only player we are likely to really miss.
Per Mertesacker partners Gabriel Paulista in his absence, flanked by Hector Bellerin and Nacho Monreal; the two Spaniards have unquestionably proven themselves our first choices this season, and deservedly start the game.
Petr Cech returns behind the defence to replace the under fire David Ospina, much to the delight of Arsenal fans.
Thankfully Francis Coquelin looks to be over his injury issues, and after playing a small part against Olympiacos he is starting the game against United. He’s alongside Santi Cazorla and Mesut Özil in midfield, with Aaron Ramsey and Alexis Sanchez on the right and left respectively.
Theo Walcott keeps Olivier Giroud out of the side yet again, and will be looking to build on his excellent goals/starts ratio.

Manchester United’s line up was similarly predictable, and Louis van Gaal has put out a strong side.

Ashley Young at left-back will be a position we can hopefully exploit, but we also have to be wary of the attack threat he poses.
Arsenal transfer news
Per Mertesacker’s lack of pace against Anthony Martial is also a real concern, and we will have to be cautious in the opening stages of the game.
