Hosting Manchester United at the Emirates was always going to be a huge game, and nerves are understandable. So what better way to ease those nerves than to take an early 2-0 lead.
The entire team looked like they were out for blood, and we piled the pressure on from the first whistle. Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Özil were the two to benefit from our early dominance, with the Chilean deftly flicking a pass from the German playmaker past David de Gea, before the supplier grabbed a goal of his own after an excellent run from Theo Walcott.
It wasn’t long before we were 3-0 up, and it was that man Alexis Sanchez yet again. He showed his famed quick feet to dance away from a number of United defenders, before lashing a shot past de Gea and into the top corner.
Check out the goal below:
We began to slip slightly in the latter stages of the half, and allowed Manchester United a handful of decent chances. One in particular fell to Anthony Martial, and required a truly world class save from Petr Cech to keep it out. We need to maintain this level of pressure in the second half, or at the very least make sure we are defensively sound and hit them on the counter.
