Arsene Wenger has all but confirmed who will play in goal against Bayern Munich this Tuesday night, with David Ospina reportedly out injured.
The Colombian returned from international duty with an injury, and was absent from the matchday squad that took apart Watford this weekend just gone. Wenger claims the shot-stopper is yet to recover, and will therefore play no part against the German giants.
This will almost certainly mean Petr Cech starting in goal, with our only other options being a number of youth keepers.
“Ospina is out injured,” Wenger confirmed on Arsenal.com.
“He came back from Colombia with a shoulder problem and he is out.”
This will be music to Gooners’ ears, as many were furious with Wenger for fielding Ospina in the first two Champions League games – with the former Nice star a large contributor to our two losses. The Champions League is a major competition, and we should therefore be fielding our best team wherever possible. A degree of rotation is obviously required in certain areas, but the goalkeeping position should not be one of them – especially this early in the season.

Arsenal transfer news
It may be a case of too little too late, as our European campaign could realistically be over already. If we are to have any hope of clawing our way back into contention though, then Cech will need to start.
