Dan Crowley was once the brightest young talent in the Arsenal youth ranks, and was touted as the ‘next Jack Wilshere’ (via the Daily Star). He looks to have really fallen from grace though, and has been sent home early from his loan spell at Barnsley after failing to impress the coaching staff there, according to the Daily Mail.
Barnsley are currently in League One, so are some step down from Arsenal. The fact that Crowley made so little impact at a club of their size means he is far from close to making the step up at the Emirates, which is a real shame.
He looked so promising last season, and there were high hopes for the 18-year-old. The midfielder was one of the less impressive youngsters during pre-season though, and his return from Barnsley just compounds that disappointment.

He made 13 appearances during his time at the club, and initially looked to be settling in well. The coaching staff clearly didn’t believe he had a future at the club though, so instead of keeping him at the club until January, opted to cut things short.
