Veteran keeper Petr Cech has spoken out in defence of Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, revealing that the Frenchman enjoys the support of everyone at the club (via the Daily Star). Wenger has come in for an immense amount of criticism so far this season, firstly for the lack of transfers over the summer and secondly for the indifferent form of the club over the opening few weeks of the season.
The dissent reached it’s peak after Arsenal’s losses to Dinamo Zagreb and Olympiacos in our opening two games of the Champions League. However Cech, who was our only summer transfer, said that the manager was appreciated by the players and management alike for his style of work and that the fans did not see the full picture when calling for Wenger to resign.
“In football everything changes fast, so you need to have a clear vision and support from people at the club,” he said.
“Obviously the board and everyone at Arsenal believe in the manager – that’s why he’s still here.
“It’s not just for the way you are – it must be for the way you work, too.
“The public only see the game, they don’t see all the things that are happening behind the scenes.

“So, sometimes, judging people only on the fraction of the time you see them working can lead to different opinions.”
Cech’s interview confirms once more that the personnel of Arsenal are firmly behind their manager all the way from the pitch to the boardroom, and Wenger certainly did himself no harm with the display that he inspired against Manchester United. With a few more performances like that, the team will surely silence even the most vocal of the Wenger Out Brigade.
