A win in our first game against Bayern Munich went some way towards making up for our disastrous start to the Champions League, but we aren’t out of the woods yet. A point or more at the Allianz would put us in a great position heading into the last two group games, but with a huge number of injuries it’s not going to be easy.
Arsene Wenger has unfortunately had a number of decisions forced on him, but the rest of the team really picks itself.
Here’s how we think Arsenal will line up against Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena:
GK) Petr Cech
We are so much stronger with Cech between the posts, and his key saves in the home leg against Bayern Munich were key to our victory.
RB) Mathieu Debuchy
With Hector Bellerin unfortunately out with a groin injury (via the Metro), Debuchy will surely be getting the nod. The Frenchman has been shocking so far this season, and needs to up his game if he’s to have any kind of future at the club.
LB) Nacho Monreal
We’ve still got one Spanish full-back fit thankfully, and Monreal will hopefully keep his place at left-back.
CB) Per Mertesacker
Mertesacker was a bit of a weak link against Swansea, and his lack of pace was exposed time and time again due to our high line. We’ll be playing far deeper against Bayern though, and his positioning and aerial ability could be far more useful. He did play against both Sheffield Wednesday and Swansea though, so Gabriel Paulista may well start in his place.
CB) Laurent Koscielny
Whoever he’s starting alongside, Koscielny needs to be the first choice centre-back whenever he’s available.
