Mesut Özil broke a couple of records with his assist against Tottenham, and Arsenal have celebrated his achievements with a Twitter announcement.
The in-form playmaker became the first player to assist in six consecutive Premier League games in a single season, with his far post ball for Kieran Gibbs giving him the title. He is also the first player to reach ten assists in his first 11 games, smashing records all over the place.

Özil split opinion in a huge number of areas when he first arrived at Arsenal, and received a lot of unfair criticism from fans, pundits, and neutrals. He has found arguably his best form in an Arsenal shirt recently though, and is finally starting to get some recognition.
He is still used as a scapegoat by clueless fans and pundits, who insist that he’s lazy and not a big game player – despite the stats and figures definitively proving otherwise. Fairweather fans and poor pundits tend to just spout out the nonsense they’ve heard repeated by others in the past, and having not watched Özil play they don’t appreciate his game.

He has been arguably the most important player in our recent run of Premier League success though, and is likely to continue in that vein as the season progresses.
