Alexis Sanchez has looked in need of a rest for quite some time now, but as of yet there hasn’t been an appropriate game to give it to him. It could be forced upon us now however, as the Chilean could be set to miss our clash with Norwich due to a hamstring injury, as reported by the Daily Star.
The 26-year-old hasn’t quite reached the heights of his debut season at the club, but has still been instrumental in our campaign so far. He looked on his way to being back to his best against Dinamo Zagreb, a game in which he bagged two goals and an assist.
Unfortunately, he seems to have picked up a minor injury in that same game, and is now a doubt for the game against the Canaries.
Arsene Wenger confirmed that both Alexis and Joel Campbell would need to be assessed ahead of the game, and that he would wait until the last minute to see if they can play.
“Spontaneously it might not be the best moment to rest Alexis, but I don’t know,” Wenger said.
“He had a little hamstring alarm, but we will see how he recovers from that.

“Joel Campbell had a little calf problem so I will assess all that on Friday, and at the latest Saturday.
“We have providers. Alexis Sanchez, Aaron Ramsey and Santi Cazorla all have quality while Mesut Özil is not just a provider now – he likes to get on the end of things.”
Being without Campbell would not be a huge blow, especially with Aaron Ramsey back in contention for a starting spot. But to lose Alexis Sanchez would be devastating, especially when he looks so close to finding his best form once again.
It would be even more serious were we to be without both players, and it would yet again leave us drastically short in the wide areas. We really can’t afford any more injuries at the moment, particularly to players as key as Alexis.
Arsenal transfer news
Our talismanic forward unquestionably needs a rest, but the game against Norwich is not the time to give it to him unfortunately.
