Mesut Özil has been exceptional this season, Petr Cech has looked indomitable in goal at times, and Alexis Sanchez has the quality to win a game on his own. But some impressive statistics suggest Aaron Ramsey is the key to our success this season, and we’ve badly missed him while he’s been away (via the Metro).
The Welshman has been out injured since limping off during our win against Bayern Munich in the Champions League, but is expected back after the international break, (via the Metro).
The stats suggest we are a far better team with Ramsey in the side, and have won a superb 69.2% of our games when the 24-year-old has been present, as opposed to 33.3% when he’s been absent.

While these numbers certainly suggest that Ramsey is key to our campaign, the numbers may suffer equally were we to be without one of our other big name players. We were also unlucky enough to lose Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Theo Walcott – and then Hector Bellerin – at around the same time as Ramsey (via Arsenal.com), meaning our right side suffered huge losses all at once. It’s therefore understandable that our results would head south, so you could argue that the timing of Ramsey’s injury is the cause of these numbers rather than the injury itself.

Either way, we badly need him back, as Joel Campbell just hasn’t looked up to the task. The return of Bellerin is equally important, and hopefully the two will return to shore up our right flank against West Bromwich Albion after the international break.
